I had a lot of what I thought I would use for firewood up against a fence in my back yard from trees I cut down. However after 3 years the wood pile was filled with ants, termites and some other creatures. Some of the wood was also rotten. So I needed to get rid of all the wood which my wife no longer wanted to burn in our indoor fireplace.
So I have a large fire pit, but not nearly enough room to burn all the wood at once. It took me about 9 or so burnings to get rid of it all. Once the fire really got going it was a breeze, however I found that getting the fire really going was a pain, as a lot of the wood was damp. What I needed was a lot of kindling wood to get the fire going. I already had a large log splitter, but needed something to turn some of the logs into smaller kindling. This product was just what I needed.
You will need a strong drill/driver. Also, be careful not to try to split too big a chunk or the product will get stuck in the log. This happened to me a few times, before I finally got the hang of it.

This is the coolest tool I have for splitting wood. I can spend all day using it. Works great. Be careful around the knots in the wood. If you use a powerful drill, it will hurt you if it catches the knot and you're not careful. I used a 20 volt Dewalt. Works great so far!

Works but has its limitations depending on the power of the drill you use. I find that when I spray the splitter with a little bit of WD40 it works even easier. But be careful, if the drill is powerful, it can twist your wrist. Not for children to play with.

Pretty cool little tool. My husband was able to split up kinlin wood in just a minute or 2. Definitely a handy tool to keep on our camper. Now my husband is wanting to get one for my dad for his camper.

Works better on smaller logs but keep a pair of pliers handy for when it does get stuck.
Also, as for technique, I find it easier to place one foot on the wood to prevent it from spinning with the bit and position myself directly over the wood/drill. Then I just let the weight of my upper body press the bit into the wood. It’s even easier to do if you place the wood on a stump or something so it’s off the ground a bit. For harder wood, it will take a few seconds for the drill bit to bite into the wood, but once it bites, you’re in business. I love this thing. So satisfying to use.

I had an accident a few years back cutting kindling and had to have 20 stitches on the first finger of my left hand while using a hand ax. This little gadget works like a charm. Just be careful with wet wood as it likes to get stuck, that being the only issue with it.

Oh, this is really a magical thing, I have a big cabinet, it bothers me for a long time, I would have wanted to get rid of it, but I don't have the right tools, it placed in the too long, it always takes too much space, my good friend recommended this product to me, it really is very good, very hard, it could easily split cabinet, it took me two hours, I really appreciate him, strongly recommended!

Overall I like the product but if you try to back it out in reverse it may come unscrewed. It is made in two pieces. I like to use an auxiliary handle on my drill driver when I use it. It might be good idea to set the clutch on your drill or you could sprain your wrist if the wood does not readily spit. Good for making kindling.

Depending on the torque of your drill, use with caution because the kindling can spin around and turn into a weapon. Overall, it works as advertised but don't rush through your splits.

My first mistake was to try to plunge this thing in the middle of a wedge of walnut. It got stuck obviously. After a few trials, I had this thing splitting oak, walnut, and hickory. Just be aware that the thicker the wood you’re splitting, the closer to the end you need to insert the bit. Don’t be a hero and go for the center. Maybe two inches from the end on your harder wood, and don’t use on wood thicker than 4-5 inches. I love this thing. So satisfying to use. :D
